    This team of two people (Le Tressoler and Cabon) aims to be the first inhabitants of the North Pole. They plan to stay six weeks in the area and will travel every day away from the Pole, coming back to their base camp every night. After having made various scientific measurements and observation during the day.

    Japanese skier Tae-Young Yasunaga Ogita (35 ans) is trying to reach North Pole leaving from Ward Hunt (Ellesmere Island), solo and unsupported.

    American Sebastian Copeland together with Canadian Eric McNair-Landry are attempting to open a new route to cross the Antarctic. They will leave from Novolazarevskaia and try to reach Hercules Inlet passing through the Pole of Inaccessibility and the Sourth Pole, a 4.000 km trek.

    On 20th November 2011, Howard Fairbank is scheduled to fly to a point 82'10"S 065'00"W on the Ronne Ice Shelf. This is the official, 'edge of continent', called Messner start point, named after the famous Italian mountaineer and explorer, Reinhold Messner who in November 1989, almost accidently established this start point and the route to the Pole.
