The two Finnish adventurers, Kari Poppis Suomela and Pasi Ikonen, are attempting the classic trek between Hercules Inlet and the South Pole, without any outside assistance..

Kari Poppis Suomela and Pasi Ikonen have not yet made any real headlines in terms of polar feats, but they have plenty of experience under their belt for all that.

The first of the pair, Kari Poppis Suomela is a professional photographer and was a member of the Finnish expedition that reached the North Pole in 2006.

The second, Pasi Ikonen, is a professional ski guide who succeeded in crossing the Greenland icecap on skis, also in 2006.

This time, they are embarking on the classic route from Hercules Inlet to the South Pole. Without being re-supplied.
