Cadet Petty Officer Ben McDonald was a member of the 'Polar Watch' Expedition initiated by the Royal Navy. Together with five other companions, they have made the trek Resolute Bay - Magnetic North Pole, during the spring season 2006.(We have not followed this expedition).

Cadet Petty Officer Ben McDonald joined the Bexley and Lewisham Unit of the Sea Cadet Corps in 2000. In the past five years he has had many great experiences in the cadets and has represented his unit at rowing at cadet national level coming 3rd two years in a row and at expedition training at London area competitions. Within the cadets he has also been able to yacht and dingy sail and has gained a silver Duke of Edinburgh 's award and the BTEC Cadet Vocational Qualification.

In 2004 he gained the rank of Petty Officer Cadet the highest rank in the Sea Cadet Corps. Ben wishes to join the Royal Marines as an officer on completion of his A-levels at Beths Grammar School.
