Heavy weapons specialist Matthiew Vivian was part of the Royal Marines Team who went from Resolute Bay to the magnetic North Pole, in the spring 2006.

Marine Matthew Vivian joined the Royal Marines at the age of 19 in February 2000 and after completing Commando training he joined 40 Commando Royal Marines based in Taunton.

Since then he has deployed to various countries and is now serving as a Heavy Weapons Specialist with 42 Commando Royal Marines in Plymouth. Matthew has completed a variety of mountain training exercises from the Highlands of Scotland to the ranges of Pickle Meadows in the USA, although a novice to Polar exploration.
