Already one month on the ice

Published on 26.11.2011 - Antarctica 2011- 2012

Being already one month on the ice, Norwegian Aleksander Gamme is quite happy with the way his adventure is unfolding.

21 November (day 24), 16 km in eight hours run. 22 November (day 25), 20 km in nine hours work. 23 November (day 26), 18 km. 24 November (day 27), 25 km in nine hours skiing. Even if he has to negociate quite often the sastrugis fields, even there are some tiny hills on his way, even if the weather is not perfect every day, even if the terrain is quite bumpy, even if white outs blocks him in his tent, the Norwegian tour operator Gamme is quite happy with these results.

This time he likes to comment the way he is eating while moving on the ice during the day : he eats only chocolat bars, specially made for the expedition and full of everything he needs while making constant efforts (slow glucides, coco fat, omega oils, coffee beans, pemmican, cacao, etc.)
