Gamme : on the way back

Published on 05.01.2012 - Antarctica 2011- 2012

After having reached the SP, Norwegian TO Aleksander Gamme has decided to go back to Hercules Inlet -solo and still unsupported.

Norwegian Aleksander Gamme has reached the South Pole on 25 December at night. There he could meet some other norwegians people who has just arrived too, coming from the Ronne Iceshelf. But as he is on a unsupported journey, he could not touch the tasty meals served for the other Norwegians for the Christmas Eve.

Gamme has lost 20 kilos since the beginning of his trek ; and he felt very week when he arrived at the SP. Of course he was in a hurry to leave the base and to get to his last depot where he could find some food. But first he had to take some days rest. He said alos that now he could realize that his legs look rathee like matches than normal human legs.

On the way back, after a week travel, he is on a 35-40 kil pace base. And he had jsut reached the degree 88 where he had left his last depot.

Gamme is still week but in good shape.
