Gamme : the pace of 30 km/day is reached

Published on 13.12.2011 - Antarctica 2011- 2012

TO Aleksander Gamme is extremely happy these last few days because he has reached his target : skiing 30 km every day.

Even though Aleksander Gamme is busy with his march towards the pole, he still finds the time to follow and encourage some of his companions (Emil Eide Eriksen and Trond Bratland Erichsen) who are for the present time and since a week already in a kayak specially build for transoceanic races, roawing towards West and taking part in one of the most toughest rowing races, the Talisker Whisky atlantic Challenge, which sails (by solos or pairs) from La Gomera (Canary Islands) to Port-St-Charles in the Barbados.

On 10 December (day 43), Gamme had done 30 km in 9.5 hours, on 11 December he took a day off and on 12 December he repeated the day 43, progressing 30 km.

He has reached one of his depot ; he has now 32 food rations to reach the SP and come back at the same place. Let's no forget that although it was not completely official, Gamme has the return trip South Pole > Hercules Inlet in his mind.
