Sailing to Ireland

Published on 29.05.2011 - Avannaq 2011

The french sloop is on her way again. With a strong sea and heavy squalls, Pierre Auzias and Bertrand Lozay are crossing St Georges Channel.

29 May 2011 : They have arrived in Kinsale after 27 hours of heavy weather.

26 May : Shortly after arriving in the Isles of Scilly, Pierre was greeted with his first birthday present: digestive turbulences during the night from May 24th to May 25th.

The port captain came to greet them on the 25th in the morning. He suggested that they stay with the dinghys since the Avannaq has a small draft.

Shortly afterwards and for 24 hours, winds of 45+ knots were recorded and constant winds of 35 knots were forecast for the next 36 hours.

They took advantage of the situation to fix the last electrical problems due to the ambient humidity. They also went for a few walks and sampled the delicious local brews.

Avannaq will then go on her way to Baltimore, Ireland. The atmosphere aboard is excellent as usual.
