TO Aleksander Gamme is approaching the Pole

Published on 26.12.2011 - Antarctica 2011- 2012

Although his body is heavier than lead, Gamme is pushing hard. But as his voyage is far from over (he is on a return trip), he does not claim victory yet.

When the leaflet of his expedition was published on the Internet some months ago, Aleksander Gamme was not yet 100 % sure to do the return trek Hercules Inlet > South Pole. He said at that time that he might have this idea as a background solution for the finish of his adventure.

These last days, he does not say patently yet that when he reaches the Pole he will go back kiting to Hercules Inlet.

But the signs of doing so are obvious : he has made deposits on the way, he does not stop counting the days of of food left (until his last depot), he doesn't have more than 73 km to go (two or three days) and will thus reach South Pole before the end of the year, he has refused to take a day rest. All this gives him plenty of time to go back by his own to the Union Glacier ALE base camp.
