The Dark Ice Project (A. Hibbert & J. Miles)

Britons Alex Hibbert (polar photographer, 26) and Justin Miles (writer, lecturer and management consultant to sports and fitness organisations, 39) are planing a two-phase expedition. Their aim: reaching the North Pole from Greenland, unsupported, and during winter. They should leave from Qaanaaq mid-December.

Bad luck for the british pair: after not even a week of progression on the Greenland seaice along the west coast, Justin Miles became seriously ill. In order not to put his life in danger, the decision had to be taken: return asap to Quaanaaq and cancel all further operations.
