At times, the snow terrifies Gamme

Published on 22.12.2011 - Antarctica 2011- 2012

Aleksander Gamme thinks that the snow does everything it could to give him a scare : giving way all the time under his skis, making a lot of noise when he is sinking in it, hiding crevasses bridges and other niggling obstacles, making his glide heavy and slow, etc.

Norwegian Alexander Gamme is advancing well despite his fears and frights in front of the snow. On 20 December, he has done 41 km (in 11 hours), "the distance of a marathon" he writes, and the day before, he has achieved 30 km in less than 9 hours ski.

On 19 December, he breaks his compass ; from there on he will only use the sun and his watch to find his bearings. The same night he happened to find blond hair in his freeze-dried food ration of the day. What a surprise...

Besides these important news, NTD (nothing to declare).
