Arctic Arc: an educational project

Published on 12.02.2007 - The Arctic Arc

The expedition will be covered on Polar Challenges and educational activities will be proposed to classes and teachers on the EducaPoles website.

Educational resources will be proposed in two phases:

  • During the expedition (from February until June, 2007), teaching tools, multimedia animations, picture galleries, educational activity suggestions and short interviews of Alain Hubert will gradually be given to schools.
  • During the 2007-2008 schoolyear (from September 2007 until June 2008), each class will be able to relive the expedition through new educational tools. There will be new teaching dossiers, new movies and new interviews of Alain Hubert.

Themes

These resources will cover the following themes :

  • Polar regions
  • Polar sciences
  • Oceans and biodiversity
  • Climate change
  • Water and ice on the earth
  • Energies and natural resources
  • Man and climate change

Interactive questions

During the expedition, classes and students will be invited to approach these themes through interactive questions. Every two weeks, a new theme will be proposed and introduced by a question. After a common reflexion or a small class research, the class's contribution can be uploaded on the website through a simple form. All contributions will appear on the website.

Reporters of the Poles

With your friends, become a "Reporter of the Poles" and help raise people's awareness on one of the themes proposed in the Arctic Arc project through a written, video or audio report, a poster or a drawing. The best documents will be published on the "Educapoles" website, with many prizes to be won.
