Broken wrist and swollen knee !

Published on 22.12.2011 - South Pole and Back - Ski & Kite

Despite Chris de Lapuente's injuries, the team is carrying on his trek towards the Pole ; Richard and Michael are taking care of both Ruth and Chris de Lapuente's sledges.

We do not know about Ruth's (one of the client) injuries but, she seems to be injured too. It makes two injured people on the ice.

In his 20 December update, de Lapuente says : "... My wrist is stabilized due to the Sudoku splint, but my knee is BAD. The swelling is not going down at all and I'm on the maximum pain relief. Michael and Richard are gamely pulling my stuff... and I feel helpless. Michael is great; upbeat, encouraging and uncomplaining. He has even dug my poo hole. What a friend! I am worried that I might have to be airlifted off. We are still walking every day, but not doing the distances we need to do. We covered 24km on Sunday and yesterday 26km. We are hoping to cross the 88th degree tomorrow. I really don't want to have to give up but I also can't hold the team up either. ..."

One positive factor : they are now (or at least should be) out of the crecasses zones.
