Gamme is speeding up

Published on 02.12.2011 - Antarctica 2011- 2012

Norwegian Tour Operator Aleksander Gamme has found better conditions on the way. As a result, he is speeding up.

As Aleksander Gamme is progressing, he is making regularly some deposit on his way, food and supplies he should find on his way back from South Pole (let's not forget that he is trying the Hercules Inlet > South Pole and return trek as well). On 02 December, the day 34 of his adventure, he is again some 8 kilos lighter after the depot he made on the ice.

These last days, the terrain conditions improved : less head winds, less sastrugis and a harder ground/ice. As a consequence he is making more mileage every day : 28 km on 2 December (day 34), 25 km on 30 November (day 32) ; according to his calculations, he still has to cover 700, km to reach SP.

Having said that, Aleksander is thinking a lot when he skies ; he listens not only to music of course, but also books where he finds a full delight.
