For their own pleasure and satisfaction, Emma Simonsson (26, Sweden), Vera Simonsson (28, Sweden), Ingbjoerg Tollefsen (27, Norway) and Kristin Folsland Olsen (28, Norway) have deceided to go for an 80 days unusual trek on Baffin Island.

The spectacular Baffin Island is located in the Canadian Arctic. During 80 days in spring 2009, the Baffin Babes will put on their skis and cover a distance of 1200 kilometres in the untouched wilderness. The expedition will visit three villages, and divide the route into two different stages. The girls hope to get in close contact with the locals, and see and learn more about the beautiful, but threatened arctic environment.

During the expedition the skiers will face challenges like temperatures down to 40 degrees Celsius below zero, strong wind, heavy snowfall and meetings with the white King, the polar bear. The adventurous women set out on this trip because of their great love of nature and the feeling of freedom from living such a nomadic life out in the snow.
It's pure, its simple, and its satisfying!

Latest : Due to some medical problems, Ingbjoerg Tollefsen (27, Norway) could not make it before the start of the exepdition. "I have struggled with some mystical stomach problems since December, but believed and hoped that I would be ready in time. The problem is that the doctors can't find out what's wrong. We all hoped that test results should give some answers, but they didn't. Then we had to face it: I will not be well in time to set out for the expedition the 8th of March. The girls have to leave without me. While Kristin, Vera and Emma work hard with their heavy sledges between Qikiqtarjuaq and Clyde River, I will work hard to get well and in shape as soon as possible. In the beginning of April I will meet the girls in Clyde River and join the expedition there.
