Teemu Lakkasuo able to continue!

Published on 05.12.2008 - The Finnish SP Solo Expedition

With the approval of the doctor at Patriot Hills, the Finn has decided to travel 'the last degree'. But for logistical reasons, he had to wait until December before he can be dropped off at the 89th parallel.

While he was waiting, Teemu spent the time skiing and walking to keep fit. His leg is much better now.

On 1st December, he decided to reorganise his sledge. After all, he won't need as much fuel and rations for his new route. That evening, he received news from Punta Arena, in Chile, which is where the plane is coming from that will drop him of on the ice. According to the weather forecast, Teemu is likely to be at 89 degrees south on 5th December.

On 2nd December, while the Finn had planned to do some skiing, he was busy organising and reorganising his kit, walking round in circles, drinking tea in the tent that serves as the dining hall at the base, and finishing off by taking a short walk: "a slack day", as he calls it ... could it be high nervous energy?!
